For a global cost of 100 million dollar, the project should end in September 2015.

« The first phase of the project consists in extending the runway that will move from 2.480 meters to approximately 3.940 meters, as well as the equipment of the lighting system to meet the requirements of bigger size planes« , underlined President Mahama.

The latter specified that once ended, the masterpiece should prevent Muslim pilgrims from harassments due to the travel from the North of the country to Accra, to board a flight for Mecca.

The project is carried out by the Brazilian company, Queiroz Galvao that is also the builder of the Kwame Nkrumah interchange of Accra, the capital town of Ghana.
